Nuclearelectrica has announced that the Ministry of Energy has requested the inclusion on the agenda of the shareholders' meeting on February 12 of a final investment decision for the small nuclear reactors at Doicești, developed by NuScale. This request was made before being discussed in the company's Board of Directors. The Ministry states that the decision will be based on the feasibility study, which will be completed by February 28, 2026. The project involves the construction of six 77 MW reactors, and so far over 200 million dollars have been spent.

The land for the project was purchased by Nova Power and Gas in 2021 and subsequently sold to the project company, RoPower Nuclear, for a significantly higher amount. Nova Power & Gas stated that it has invested in remediation works on the sold land, preparing the site for the development of the SMR project.
