Nuclearelectrica has convened shareholders to vote on February 12 on the Final Investment Decision (FID) for the modular small reactor (SMR) project at Doicești, requested by the Ministry of Energy, the majority shareholder. The project, developed in collaboration with Nova Power and Gas, will utilize American NuScale technology and will have a total capacity of 462 MW, consisting of 6 modules of 77 MW each. The completion of the analysis and evaluation stages of the site has led to this decision, considered a significant step for the energy security of Romania. Nuclearelectrica intends to collaborate with commercial partners and authorities to support the project, recognized by the European Commission for its contribution to the decarbonization of the energy sector and job creation.
