Nicușor Dan, the president of Romania, stated that he has conducted a "comprehensive analysis" for the selection of the heads of the Prosecutor's Offices, emphasizing that this significantly differs from the speculations circulating online. At the Romanian Embassy in Poland, Dan explained that he had meetings with dozens of prosecutors to better understand their opinions and reputation within the profession. He also mentioned that he does not want to preemptively comment on the proposals, but he is completely in disagreement with the information circulated on social media about the candidates.
The Ministry of Justice recently announced the proposals for the leadership of the major prosecutor's offices, including Cristina Chiriac for the position of Attorney General and Ioan Viorel Cerbu for the head of DNA, which are to be approved by the Superior Council of Magistracy.
