When taking the oath of office, Nicușor Dan emphasized the importance of simplifying and streamlining the pension system, as well as reforming social benefits. He highlighted the need to reform environmental authorization and control institutions, expand the work of the Environmental Guard and reform Romsilva. Dan also proposed a national program for access to culture and education, promoting contemporary Romanian culture as a resource of international prestige. In the social area, he emphasized the need to develop social services and equal opportunities.
