President Nicușor Dan stated that the term 'pro-Western' reflects the three pillars of Romania's foreign policy - the European Union, the United States, and NATO, according to the National Defense Strategy. This statement comes in the context of speculations regarding the choice of the term 'pro-Western' instead of 'pro-European'.

Dan emphasized that Romania's strategic approach remains consistent, and internal debates do not affect these fundamental relationships. He highlighted that predictability in Romania's foreign policy is a major competitive advantage. The president reaffirmed that there are no risks of anti-Western forces in the future government majority and that Romania should not choose between these pillars, but rather ensure optimal compatibility among them. Dan concluded that a stronger Europe contributes to a stronger NATO and vice versa, emphasizing the importance of a correct relationship between the European Union, the United States, and NATO.
