President Nicușor Dan had a meeting on Monday at the Cotroceni Palace with American General Alexus G. Grynkewich, the Supreme Commander of NATO forces in Europe, to discuss security risks in the Black Sea region, heightened by the war in Ukraine. Dan emphasized the direct impact on Romania, including drone incursions into national airspace, and welcomed the launch of NATO's 'Eastern Sentry' operation, which aims to strengthen defense on the Eastern Flank.
The President reaffirmed Romania's commitment to being a credible ally in NATO, honoring financial commitments in the defense sector. General Grynkewich appreciated Romania's contribution to regional security and emphasized that the Alliance is closely monitoring security developments, continuing to adopt measures to deter hostile actions. The two officials agreed to strengthen the bilateral strategic partnership in the field of defense.
