The President-elect of Romania, Nicușor Dan, has announced that the dialogue with political parties will focus on solutions to correct the budget deficit, estimated at 7% of GDP. He stressed the importance of reducing public spending and rejected speculation about the structure of the future government. The budget deficit rose to 2.94% of GDP in the first four months of the year, and Dan reaffirmed that VAT would not be increased and that there were no risks to pensions and salaries.
