Octavian Berceanu drew attention to a one million euro bribery deal that was supposed to reach the Minister of Defense, Ionuț Moșteanu. According to his denunciation, the deal was allegedly coordinated by a state structure from Kazakhstan, which intended to bring Soviet weapons to Romania, repaint them, and sell them to Ukraine. Berceanu emphasized that the group also aimed to corrupt politicians to ensure their protection.
The recordings in the case reveal discussions between Berceanu and Marius Isăilă, a former PSD senator, about large sums of money and methods of delivering the bribe without leaving traces. Isăilă has been arrested and will remain in custody for 30 days. Minister Moșteanu stated that he will not tolerate corruption and will cooperate with the judiciary to clarify the situation.
