The head of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the "Marie Curie" Emergency Clinical Hospital for Children, Cătălin Cîrstoveanu, warns that the lack of staff continues to endanger the lives of patients and states that the unlocking of the 22 nursing positions approved by the Government is not enough to resolve the crisis in the unit. The doctor claims that the staff shortage is a systemic problem, and without long-term measures, including attracting and retaining medical staff and expanding the capacity of neonatal intensive care units, "children will continue to die." He emphasized that there are still serious cases that cannot be taken due to a lack of available beds and called for structural reforms to prevent such situations.
