The Bucharest Court of Appeal admitted the appeal filed by businessman Nelu Iordache, reducing his sentence from 11 years and 9 months to 5 years and 10 months in prison.
The court found that the statute of limitations had intervened for two of his convictions, namely misappropriation of European funds and embezzlement, which led to the removal of these convictions and the cessation of the execution of the sentences.
The judges reanalyzed the remaining sentences related to forgery in writings and fraud, and merged them, establishing a new sentence. Additionally, the court ordered the annulment of the old execution warrant and the issuance of a new warrant according to the reduced sentence, deducting the period already served since September 2021. The decision is final and cannot be contested.
