INS data show that in May 2025, the natural increase was negative with 10,881 births and 18,781 deaths. Compared to April 2025, the number of births increased by 4% and deaths decreased by 3.8%. Almost 42% of deaths were among people aged 80 and over. There were also 10,285 marriages and 1,426 divorces. Compared to May 2024, births were down 10.9% and deaths were down 3%.
