Mugur Isărescu, the governor of the National Bank of Romania, stated that there are significant risks for sectors such as HoReCa and retail, in the context of a contraction in domestic demand. In a press conference, he confirmed that the decrease in consumption affects these areas, but expressed optimism that the situation will gradually improve, especially after the traditionally more difficult period of February-March.

Isărescu mentioned that the beginning of the year usually brings challenges for consumption, but emphasized that restructuring in the automotive industry does not necessarily indicate a crisis. BNR representatives believe that the current difficulties could be temporary, related to the economic adjustments specific to the beginning of the year.
