The Iași Court sentenced Ahmed Sami El Bourkadi to life imprisonment for the aggravated murder of Jniyah Youssef and his girlfriend, Ioana Vanesa Burlacu, in December 2021. The sentence also includes sentences for destruction, aggravated theft and illegal access to a computer system. The court ordered civil damages of more than €300,000 for the victims' families and maintained remand in custody. El Bourkadi, who fled the country after the murders, was caught in Italy and extradited to Romania.
