The Hungarian company MOL has announced the initiation of a series of tests on the Adria oil pipeline, aimed at evaluating its performance and sustainability under varying weather conditions and over the long term. The tests will last approximately 10 months and will analyze not only the capacity of the pipeline but also the entire logistics chain for transporting oil, including port capacity and unloading speed. Although the Slovnaft refinery in Bratislava operates at maximum capacity, the Danube refinery has limited capacity, which will affect the initial tests. Starting in 2023, the annual capacity of the pipeline has been estimated between 11 and 15 million tons, but so far, no more than 2.2 million tons have been transported. In 2027, after evaluating the tests, the operational future of the pipeline will be decided. MOL is also awaiting clarifications from the Croatian authorities regarding the transport of Russian oil exempted from sanctions.
