Metrorex announced that the company makes daily payments to Hidroelectrica to reduce outstanding debts, which exceed 11 million lei. Metrorex representatives emphasized that the value of payment obligations is now lower than the monthly electricity consumption.

The interim Minister of Transport, Radu Miruță, stated that Metrorex will not be disconnected from the electricity network, but solutions are being sought for the restructuring of debts. Additionally, Miruță requested the Control Body to extend the checks at Metrorex, mentioning that the money is not being used efficiently. Metrorex consumes approximately 1 million euros per month for electricity, and the minister requested explanations regarding the non-payment of bills and measures for settling debts. The financial problems at Metrorex are recognized as serious and long-lasting, and Miruță announced that steps are being taken to improve the situation.
