On Saturday, Miercurea-Ciuc was the scene of a massive protest, attended by over 2000 people, dissatisfied with the increase in local taxes and fees, as well as the removal of tax benefits. The protesters, despite the cold weather, chanted against the UDMR and Mayor Korodi Attila, accusing politicians of betraying the interests of the citizens. Some protesters, including elderly individuals, highlighted the financial difficulties they are facing, stating that the city is no longer livable.

Representatives of associations for people with disabilities criticized the Government for the removal of tax benefits, emphasizing that this social category already lives below the subsistence level. The organizer of the protest, János Menyhárt, stated that the event is not political, but a civic manifestation of dissatisfaction with government decisions. Mayor Korodi acknowledged that the protest is justified, but defended the decisions made by the UDMR within the Government, emphasizing that they are necessary, albeit harsh.
