The EPP Group does not want Romania to lose any euro from the funds allocated through the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism, states EPP leader Manfred Weber, after the political groups European People's Party (EPP, center-right) and Renew Europe (liberal) in the European Parliament requested the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to withhold 770 million euros from the EU funds allocated to Romania through the PNRR, due to concerns related to the reform of the integrity law in Romania.
"Respect for European values and the rule of law must be an essential condition for accessing European funds. The EPP Group does not want Romania to lose any euro from the European funds allocated to it through the PNRR. The correct and timely fulfillment of the reforms undertaken through the PNRR is essential for Romania to fully benefit from the European funds allocated to it," wrote Manfred Weber on Facebook.
