A man aged 35, a Romanian citizen residing in Germany, wanted internationally for drug trafficking, was located and captured by police in the municipality of Bistrița. At the time of the intervention by law enforcement, the suspect was in an inflatable pool set up on the terrace of an apartment, being pulled directly from the water by investigators.
The operation to capture him was carried out following a rapid exchange of data and operational information between the Romanian Police and the judicial authorities in Germany, a European arrest warrant having been issued for the man beforehand. The suspect was initially detained for 24 hours and is to be presented to the judges at the Cluj Court of Appeal for the confirmation of provisional arrest, in view of initiating legal extradition procedures to Germany.
