Robert Richens, 35 years old from Oxford, was sentenced to life in prison, with a minimum sentence of 16 years and one month, after pleading guilty to the murder of his former partner, Rachael Vaughan, who was 40 years old. The incident occurred in May last year when Richens called the police, claiming that he had "accidentally killed" someone. Despite the efforts of rescue teams, Rachael died at the scene. During his arrest, a video recording showed Richens expressing regret that he would miss the release of the video game Grand Theft Auto 6, scheduled for November, saying: "I will miss GTA and that."
