A 46-year-old man from Arad was arrested preventively after allegedly granting illegal loans, charging exorbitant interest rates of up to 40% per month. According to the Prosecutor's Office next to the Arad Court, he, a repeat offender, lent money without being authorized, demanding interest of 30% for a loan of 5,000 euros and 40% for one of 11,000 euros.

His victims, who were unable to pay, were threatened and blackmailed, one of them being psychologically coerced through insults to pay the interest. The man was arrested for 30 days, being accused of blackmail and usury.
