Maia Sandu, proposed to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize

Maia Sandu, the President of Moldova, has been proposed for nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize by Arild Hermstad, a member of the Norwegian Parliament and leader of the Green Party.

Hermstad emphasized that Sandu is on the front line of the fight for democracy in Europe, in the context where Moldova faces Russian influences, disinformation, and cyberattacks aimed at destabilizing the government.

He highlighted that Russia is waging a hybrid war against several former Soviet states, and that Putin represents a major threat to European peace and stability. Sandu has responded to these challenges by strengthening the rule of law and protecting free elections, distancing herself from Russian imperialism and bringing Moldova closer to Western democracies. Hermstad believes that Sandu's efforts to build robust communities and resist authoritarian influence deserve international recognition through the Nobel Peace Prize.
