The leader of UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, announced that next week the project for the reform of local and central administration will be presented, which will enter its first reading in the Government meeting. The project provides for a 10% reduction in occupied positions in local administration and the budget envelope for each ministry, with a deadline until March. Following discussions in the coalition, a principle agreement was reached to reduce 13,000 positions in local administration, and municipalities and County Councils will have the option to choose between staff reductions or spending cuts. This reform was initially contested by social democrats, who argued that it cannot be achieved solely through layoffs. The project will require amendments to Law 63 of 2010 to allow for the preparation of the Budget Law.
