Research Minister Bogdan-Gruia Ivan announces a legislative initiative against deepfakes, with penalties of up to 2 years in prison.

The proposed law provides penalties for those who create or distribute deepfakes, which are considered a threat to democracy. The minister also noted that another important piece of legislation, the Digital Services Act, which extends rights from the physical to the virtual world, is before Parliament.
