The funeral service of the great coach Mircea Lucescu began at the Elefterie Church in the Capital, where it is expected to last approximately two hours.
The funeral procession left the National Arena under police escort, arriving at the church, where personalities from football, such as Gheorghe Hagi and Mircea Rednic, gathered. After the service, the coffin, wrapped in the national flag, will be taken to Bellu Cemetery, following a well-established route. The burial ceremony will begin at 12:20 and will be preceded by military honors, thus recognizing Lucescu's outstanding contributions to football. Public access will be restricted according to the family's wishes, being allowed only for close relatives.
Mircea Lucescu passed away on Tuesday, at the age of 80, after a career of over 60 years in football, being one of the most respected coaches in the world. Tributes from supporters continue to pour in, and his memory will remain alive in the history of Romanian and world football.
