The attack took place on Sunday evening near al-Shifa hospital, resulting in the deaths of seven people, including well-known journalists. The Israeli military said al-Sharif was associated with Hamas and responsible for attacks on Israel, charges disputed by press freedom organizations. Earlier, UN experts and media organizations had warned of the risks.
