Florin Gabriel Dăscălescu, a platoon commander at the Valcea Gendarmerie Inspectorate, left the country to fight in Congo alongside Horațiu Potra's mercenaries, despite being on unpaid leave for family health problems. He was working as a military instructor for Potra's security company, although he claimed in his CV that he had resigned from the gendarmerie in January 2023.
