Ionuț Moșteanu, the Minister of Defense, was asked on Digi24 about the lack of transparency regarding the aid provided to Ukraine by Romania. He acknowledged that, normally, it would be correct for the state to communicate openly about the assistance offered, but he emphasized that this depends on the existence of adequate time and space to explain the details. Moșteanu highlighted the importance of transparency but mentioned that in certain situations, the context can influence how information is communicated.
“Transparency would be the most normal situation if there were enough space for debate to explain exactly how those values are calculated. The problem is that I said, 'let's leave everyone to do what they want' and look where we have ended up, that the Russian has managed to meddle in our elections and has passed a bullet by our ears. Everything that means war and everything that means aid for Ukraine has been politically manipulated. A lot. The figures need to be explained well enough. I could do it now on the show and by tomorrow morning there will be 5 million views on TikTok for some videos that will drip lies or manipulations into the ears of millions of Romanians,” said Minister Moșteanu.
