Former President Ion Iliescu was hospitalized on June 9 at the 'Prof. Dr. Agrippa Ionescu' Clinical Emergency Hospital, where his health deteriorated rapidly, with severe respiratory problems and organ failure. Doctors confirmed that he is suffering from lung cancer and is receiving intensive care under the supervision of a medical team. Iliescu has had other health problems in the past, including surgery for pericarditis.
