Prosecutors are investigating 43 suspects, including ring leaders, for tax evasion in the timber trade.

The Public Prosecutor's Office of the High Court has launched a criminal investigation into 43 suspects, including one legal entity, for tax evasion related to the timber trade. The criminal action was launched on June 17 and 15 defendants were subject to preventive measures, including judicial control. Vasile Pîrlac, PSD Suceava county councillor, is suspected to be the leader of the criminal group. The investigation targets illegal timber shipments carried out without proper documentation since September 14, 2020.
