The director of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant, Romeo Urjan, announced that the interventions carried out on the Danube have brought a few additional days of operation for Unit 2, after the detonation of the Pârjoaia rock, which increased the water level in the intake basin.

Romeo Urjan stated that under the current conditions, Unit 2 can operate for another 5-7 days. The planned sinking of the barges on Wednesday could add another 2-3 days of operation. The detonation of the rock, the sinking of the barges, and dredging could together bring an additional four to five days, thus reaching a possible operating period of 10-11 days.

"If the operation of sinking the barges does not succeed, in 5-7 days we will have to stop," said the director of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant to Antena 3 CNN.

Unit 2 is operating at nominal capacity, complying with nuclear safety standards. Unit 1 remains shut down under safety conditions.
