A man wanted internationally for drug trafficking was caught in the attic of a building in the Popricani commune, Iași

A man wanted at the national and international level for drug trafficking was captured on Saturday morning by police in Iași.

He was hiding in an improvised shelter in the attic of a building in the Popricani commune and had a sentence of seven years and nine months in prison to serve for drug-related offenses. The officers from the Surveillance Bureau, together with those from the No. 3 Rural Police Station in Popricani and gendarmes from the Iași County Gendarmerie Inspectorate, carried out the capture operation.

The man had been convicted by the Iași Tribunal on September 24, 2025, after being caught in 2020 in possession of low-risk and high-risk drugs, intended for both sale and personal use. After his arrest, he was taken to the IPJ Iași headquarters and subsequently incarcerated in the Iași Penitentiary to serve his sentence.
