At ROMATSA, an internal investigation has been initiated following an incident that occurred two weeks ago at the airport in Cluj.

Employees noticed that something was not right, and the employee involved was tested for prohibited substances. Representatives of the institution confirmed that they reported the case to the police and that the employee has been suspended from duty until the investigation is completed.

This individual was responsible for monitoring and maintaining the technical equipment used by air traffic controllers, but did not engage in air traffic control activities. The incident comes nearly a year after an air traffic controller in Cluj fell asleep during their shift, endangering an aircraft with hundreds of passengers.

ROMATSA announced that it will implement additional measures for staff training and monitoring of the work schedule.
