At the Jebel Psychiatric Hospital in Timiș County, 25 patients were found in a storage room, and one of them was connected to an oxygen machine in a hallway. This is the same hospital where, recently, cases of scabies were reported, which led to the closure of two pavilions. The non-governmental organization Legal Resources Center (CRJ) has requested the Ministry of Health to check the living conditions of the patients.
The conditions in the storage room did not meet the standards approved by the Public Health Directorate, and the patients were crammed into dormitories, with up to 15 people in the same bed. Additionally, hygiene was poor, with patients having limited access to water and being forced to wash with wet wipes. The toilets were non-functional, and the hospital had only one caregiver for over 30 patients. CRJ is calling for urgent measures to improve living and treatment conditions in this medical unit.
