Ilie Bolojan, the dismissed prime minister, stated on Wednesday evening, in an interview on Antena 1, that the increase in VAT was an inevitable measure, necessary for budgetary consolidation. This decision was an integral part of the government's strategies to face economic challenges and ensure financial stability.

Bolojan emphasized that, although the measure may be unpopular, it was deemed essential to maintain budgetary balance and support long-term economic development. These statements come in the context in which the Government has faced criticism for its fiscal decisions, and Bolojan wanted to clarify the reasons behind this measure.
