The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) has launched a call to parents, urging them not to leave their children unsupervised near lakes, rivers, or frozen ponds, following a recent tragedy in Sibiu County, where two children fell into a stream. Firefighters emphasize the dangers posed by ice, which can break at any time, and the cold water can be fatal within minutes.

In their message, IGSU representatives urge parents to discuss the risks of these areas with their children, highlighting that ice is not a playground. The tragic incident occurred on Monday when a 6-year-old girl and her 9-year-old brother lost their lives during what seemed to be an innocent play. Efforts to resuscitate the girl were in vain, and the brother's body was later recovered. IGSU reiterates the importance of supervising children to prevent such tragedies.
