In Iași County, all local councils have adopted resolutions prohibiting the operation of slot machines, known as "păcănele." Paul Ciobanu, co-founder of the Civic Initiative Group 'În Stradă', stated that the first locality to make this decision was the commune of Miroslava, followed by the municipality of Iași.

The resolution prohibits not only gaming machines but also the issuance of new licenses for gaming halls. In the municipality of Iași, any form of gambling, except for Loto and Prono, has been banned. The last locality to adopt the ban is the municipality of Pașcani, where initially the resolution did not meet the required number of votes. Currently, out of approximately 1,060 machines operating at the beginning of the year, only 773 remain active until the licenses expire. This measure aims to protect the community, especially children, from the influence of gambling.
