The process of controlled emptying of the Vidraru reservoir, the first such operation since 1974, is essential for the evaluation and modernization of the dam after almost 50 years of operation. The CEO of Hidroelectrica, Karoly Borbely, emphasized that this stage will ensure a new lease of life for the production capacities, using modern technology to increase energy efficiency. The emptying will take place between August 1, 2025 and February 28, 2026, through controlled turbination and discharge into the Argeș River.
