The police of the Berca Rural Police Station discovered a heritage statuette in the home of a 49-year-old man from the village of Sătuc, following investigations coordinated by the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Romanian General Police Inspectorate.
The statuette, with a height of approximately 1.50 meters and made of cast bronze, is suspected to be part of the monumental ensemble "Der Dorfklatsch" ("The Village Gossip"), included in the national cultural heritage of Germany, which was reported missing by the German authorities at the end of 2025.
The object was seized by investigators for further research and handed over to the Prahova County Police Inspectorate. The investigation aims to establish the statuette's route and identify the individuals involved in its theft.
The Romanian General Police Inspectorate will collaborate with the German authorities for the restitution of the statuette and the continuation of the investigation.
