The government has adopted the economic indicators for the purchase of 58 new short-distance trains, RE-R2 and RE-R3.

The bill also entered the government meeting last month but was never adopted. The purchases are the first phase in a package of 143 short-distance electric trainsets, in addition to the 62 trains from the failed PESA procurement. The total value of the contracts is 3.28 billion lei.
