Gheorghe Trifu, an 11-year-old boy reported missing through a Ro-Alert message, was found last night by a driver of the Bucharest Transport Company (STB) in a trolleybus on line 90. The incident occurred around 9:00 PM, when the driver noticed the unsupervised child in the vehicle and immediately called 112. The trolleybus was stopped at the 'Școala Iancului' station, where a police crew was already waiting, who confirmed the child's identity and took him in.
The finding of Gheorghe generated positive reactions on the STB Facebook page, where Bucharest residents praised the driver's involvement. In Romania, child disappearances are a serious problem, with thousands of reports annually, and Bucharest is among the most affected areas. Between 2020 and 2023, 146 missing cases remained unresolved, most involving teenagers who run away from care centers or home.
