The General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) company stated that the information reported about the acquisition of PIRANHA 5 armored vehicles is inaccurate. GDELS emphasizes that the vehicles requested by the Ministry of Defense differ significantly from those purchased in 2018, having dozens of technical modifications. The company had less than 14 days to submit the offer, despite international regulations that provide for longer deadlines. GDELS contests the authorities' expectation to maintain the prices from 2018, explaining the increase in prices due to rising raw material costs and demand generated by international conflicts.
Additionally, GDELS sent a letter to President Nicușor Dan, requesting the removal of confidential information published by the Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță. The company reaffirms its commitment to collaborate with the Romanian Army and to contribute to the development of the defense industry in Romania. GDELS is a leader in the design and manufacturing of ground combat systems, having a strategic partnership with the Romanian industry.
