Costel Fotea, the president of the Galați County Council, signed on Monday the funding contract for the construction of an Integrated Palliative Care Center, valued at nearly 30 million lei, through the Health Program.

This center will provide medical and human support to patients with serious illnesses, such as advanced forms of cancer.

The new unit will be equipped with over 1,000 state-of-the-art medical devices and will have 50 beds, medical offices, spaces for physiotherapy and psychological counseling, all aimed at ensuring the comfort of patients.

Currently, Galați has only 10 beds for palliative care, making this investment necessary. The funding includes 12.7 million lei from non-reimbursable funds and 16.8 million lei from the CJ Galați budget.

The construction tender is in the final phase, and the works will begin in the first part of next year. Fotea emphasized the importance of this project to provide patients not only with treatment but also with dignity and hope.
