The 'Health Solidarity' Federation in Romania (FSSR) has launched an action program to protect the incomes of health employees, in the context of the Government's intention to implement a 10% reduction in salary expenses in public institutions, including in healthcare units. Trade unionists emphasize that such a measure would lead to a decrease in real incomes and a reduction in staff, affecting the capacity to provide healthcare. The action program includes meetings with parliamentarians to highlight the negative consequences of reducing salary expenses and to request legislative interventions that would exempt healthcare units from these measures. FSSR also demands a legal guarantee from the Government to protect the incomes of health employees and to respect social dialogue by consulting trade union organizations before any decision that affects them.
