Former Prime Minister Florin Cîțu criticized the economic changes in Romania between 2022 and 2026, considering that the country made a brutal turn from liberalism to aggressive interventionism. On his Facebook page, Cîțu explained that, after the trend of "human-faced socialism" from the period 2017-2019 stopped in 2020,

Romania began to rapidly progress towards a liberal economy in 2021, characterized by incentives, fiscal discipline, and a limited role of the state. However, starting in 2022, this direction was gradually modified through a series of fiscal adjustments and regulations that changed the initial structure of the economic framework.
