Five taxi drivers from Bucharest have been apprehended after stealing 48,200 lei from the accounts of some clients, taking advantage of their inattention during the transport. On December 10, the police conducted searches and brought in several people involved in this case.

Investigators discovered that the taxi drivers had observed the passwords of the clients' banking applications and stole their mobile phones, subsequently accessing the bank accounts without authorization. Additionally, they used the identity of a homeless person to open bank accounts, which were used for fraudulent withdrawals.

Investigations continue to identify other suspects involved in these crimes.
