A 44-year-old man from Iasi has died of rabies, the first fatal case in Romania in 13 years. The incident occurred in February when the man was bitten by a stray dog. Although he took antibiotics, he did not receive the rabies vaccine. Symptoms only appeared in June and the diagnosis was confirmed after the family mentioned the bite. The man was hospitalized in a coma and, despite doctors' efforts, did not survive. Experts recommend vaccination after any bite from a potentially infected animal.
