Firefighters evacuated 19 people from a building in Râmnicu Vâlcea due to a strong smell of gas coming from a disconnected gas cylinder.

On Friday, firefighters from Râmnicu Vâlcea intervened in an apartment building after residents reported a strong smell of gas in the stairwell. 19 people, including 16 adults and 3 minors, were evacuated as a precaution for safety. Inspections showed that the source of the smell came from a gas cylinder in an apartment not connected to the natural gas network, where the owner was using two cylinders for the stove.
The Distrigaz team evacuated one cylinder, and the firefighters ventilated the apartment and stopped the gas supply in the stairwell. Following the inspection, gas leaks were identified at the meters of four apartments. The intervention continues to eliminate any danger.
