The fire broke out on Saturday afternoon at around 15:45 on a private train on its way to Brasov. Passengers, frightened by the dense smoke, evacuated themselves and the staff response was deemed inadequate, with some staff trying to extinguish the flames with a water bottle. Hundreds of passengers are waiting for explanations at North Station, and the decision by staff to use water to put out the fire contravenes safety rules.
