A fire at a weapons factory in Cugir destroyed around 130,000 cartridges in a 400,000 cartridge warehouse.

The fire broke out on the night of August 2, 2025, affecting an initial area of 300 square meters, later expanding to 700 square meters. IPJ Alba reported that of the 400,000 rounds of ammunition in the warehouse, approximately 130,000 were destroyed, with risks that the rest of the ammunition could be compromised. The investigation, supervised by the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Alba Iulia District Court, is looking into the crime of culpable destruction, and specialists from the National Institute of Criminalistics are involved in the investigation.
