The prosecutors in Bucharest are investigating 14 people in a fraud case involving waste.

The prosecutors of the Bucharest Tribunal's Prosecutor's Office announced that, following a large-scale operation, 14 individuals are being investigated in the case regarding economic crimes in the field of waste management. The estimated damage exceeds 47 million euros.

Following 83 searches conducted in various counties, fictitious waste collection circuits were identified, reporting quantities much larger than the actual ones. Six individuals have been placed in preventive custody, five are under judicial control, and three are evading the investigation. The prosecutors have initiated criminal proceedings for fraud, money laundering, and forgery in writings, and the court has decided on precautionary measures regarding the suspects' assets, including the seizure of properties and vehicles, with a total value of over 10 million euros.
